Does the USA have what it takes to Boycott Absolut Vodka?

Here is another example of countries trying to belittle America. They should be thankful the US is the way it is. We give more money to help 3rd world countries than any other country. And when thos elcountires need protection they always call on the U.S. = BOYCOTT ABSOLUT VODKA!!!!!!!!!!!

check out the Link.http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080408/us_n鈥?/a>|||Now the average Mexican after looking at that map would only think and wish that the brown part would have extended much farther south than what the border is today. Why Boycott Absolut when there's not much of a market for it anyway?|||Absolut Vodka sucks. I only drink Zyr, Belvedere, or in a pinch Ketel 1. Absolut is as bad as Smirnoff. F*cking rubbing alcohol.

This is funny. Someone gave me a thumbs down for my (excellent) taste in vodka.|||i think people shouldn't be offended over something so small. so what, they posted an add suggesting that cali was going back to mexico, omg, how horrible. but we have freedom of speech here, so they're allowed to say w/e they want without it advocating violence or following the time and place rules. if this ad had showed america taking over mexico and other countries, there wouldn't be such an uproar about it amoung americans.|||The ad was in Mexico, for a Mexican audience. If it were in the United States, with an American audience, it might have parts of Canada or parts of Mexico shaded. What's the big deal?

I drink Absolut and will continue.

Look at the ad in context, man.|||I don't think it's worth a boycott. Absolut already withdrew the ad, what more do you want? Isn't that what you wanted? Are little children going to die because of that ad?

When Mexico was actually offered part of the US during WWI if it were to help Germany invade the US, Mexico said no. Let's stay good friends with Mexico. Who cares about Absolut? It's only liquor.|||Well I'm boycotting Absolut|||I'm boycotting them because I do not drink anyway!!!|||Oh dear, oh dear - all this fuss over a map.

If you think for one minute that the Absolut advertising campaigning is a serious attempt to "belittle America", let alone stir the Mexicans into reclaiming "lost" territory, you've clearly lost your sense of humour along with your sense of proportion.

The whole 'joke' of the Absolut campaign is to present an alternative, parallel universe, what-might-have-been view of the world. Quirky and offbeat, yes, but clearly out of synch' with the American sense of humour.

It's just an advertising campaign. Get over it - I'd have hoped that Uncle Sam was a little more secure about his role and place in the world.|||relax you will get over it i love Absolut Vodka|||I think we should give them California. I'd even negotiate Washington and Oregon.|||I love how one advertisement can create such an effect...you are playing into the game! How much publicity has this caused for Absolut. C'mon its just an ad...this is exactly what they want.|||I agree with "Well you might say that". It's a tempest in a teapot, much ado about nothing, etc., etc. All the overreacting just shows the world that we have absolutly no sense of humor which make it all the more funny.|||you bet ye we do.|||That was an pre 1848 map of the U.S. That land was part of Mexico then. What exactly is there to boycott????? Why are you upset by that?? Does it remind you of the grim truth that the U.S. was formed by killing people and taking over land? I'm not even Mexican but it's true....Or am I being "ANTI-AMERICAN" by saying the truth?

If thats the case I'll post up a pre civil war map showing the "confederate states of america" in the south and then you can boycott the rednecks ok?

Wow they showed a old map with a geographical reigon that was true at the time. Big deal.

So what if they want the land back?...doesn't mean they're going to get it. The Ad didn't even run in this country. Get over yourself.

How can the same people touting "freedom of speech" be offended by a map. Wow...

Now go ahead and delete my post again yahoo! answers for telling the truth.
