What do you think the company was trying to imply with the map?|||I wasn't upset, but found it very interesting.
Many years ago a book was written called "The Nine Nations of North America." In that book, one section of the USA was re-named "Mex-America."
In this ad, that area is expanded because there has been much more immigration since the book was written.
The implication of the ad is discussed in the articles I have provided links to.|||Is there a youtube video I can see about this?|||you lead a sad life if you need to put this much thought and anxiety into a friggin t.v commercial......ugghh|||They were upset because they had the map of Mexico incorrect.
They had the whole West Coast of the USA being shown as Mexican territory.|||i don't think it was racist. America is multi cultural. I think it was stupid to run that ad in mexico, b/c they will lose more business than they will gain from it in the US.|||People were upset about the ad because they used an image of an old map before California, Arizona, etc. became part of the US. It harbors a lot of anger in some people because Mexico was a much larger country prior to the US obtaining this property.|||It would have been funnier if they were selling Rum or Tequila|||People are all upset from the opposite side, saying that the US stole that land and the map is what the Mexican territory should look like...
Guess what, ignorant fools... the country of Mexico only ruled the land in question for 20 years before they decided to try and fight the US. Wars are won... land is acquired. That's how it works.
If Mexico wants the land back, they can have it, but they have to take their sh*tty beer and all illegal immigrants back with them.
I don't like the ad because it again questions and threatens the sovereignty of the United States. For what? To sell sub-par vodka to Mexicans?
They issued a statement after the outcry from the ad, saying that the ad recalled a time that "may be more appealing" to many Mexicans. The statement was such a halfassed apology... pathetic.
Good thing I don't like cheap vodka... Absolut Ignorance...
Cheers.
