I know Vodka freezes at around -26C, so is there anything wrong with my vodka?
Is it still drinkable or does anything happen to it when it freezes?|||Because of the immutable laws of physics, 80 proof vodka WILL NOT freeze in your refrigerator, not unless your freezer is capable of producing temps as low as -26C/-16F, as you mentioned. Most commercially available domestic refrigerators are not capable of producing such low temps, but I supppose yours could be an unlikely exception, If it were my vodka, and I had such a mystery on my hands, I'd buy a thermometer and look into the situation soon. Otherwise, it sounds much more likely that someone has tampered with your bottles -- maybe someone drank some or all of your hooch and then replaced their ill-gotten gains with some good old-fashioned tap water. Do you have any likely suspects occasionally wandering around your kitchen??? It sounds like you might.|||I've never had vodka freeze - and I've probably put hundreds of bottles of it in the freezer (I worked in a bar where we kept our vodka cold, I like a drink but not that much!).
Sounds like what you have there ain't the real thing. It might not have the correct alcohol content, or have water added - were the bottles sealed/unopened when you put them in the freezer? You might have an unusually cold freezer and I can't see that there would be any problem with drinking it.|||If you are talking about a residential freezer and not a commercial one, they do not get anywhere near a negative temperature. So the issue is the vodka, not the freezer. I wasn't aware that Vodka would not freeze. I never heard that before.|||thats weird. i store a bottle of smirnoff vodka in the freezer and it doesnt freeze at all. just gets really really cold. delicious.|||there is a myth that when u freeze vodka it increases the alcohol content and makes for a more pontent drink look up this site for a story on the myth|||anything freezes at a certain temperature
anything containing water will freeze at a decent value (below -20)|||Vodka isn't supposed to freeze.|||They "froze".
I think if you let it thaw out it should be fine.|||not all vodkas have same ingredients, some brands add a lot of water in it
